Introduction: Bedroom Design

Hey there, folks! How’s everyone doing? Hope you’re having a good one. I’ve been caught up with work lately, but today, I wanted to share something I’ve been working on this week.

This right here is my bread and butter, something I absolutely adore 😍 What is it, you ask? It’s a neat little interior design gig I did for my buddy Chathura. β™₯

Let me walk you through how I went about this.

2D Planning: Blueprint to Reality

I was handed the floor plan this time around. Usually, I’m the one sketching out the 2D plan as well.

Once you’ve got that blueprint, it’s smooth sailing. Having all the measurements makes life easier. If it’s a small sketch, whether or not you’ve got a 2D plan doesn’t make much difference. But for larger house plans, having those measurements beforehand makes the 3D work a breeze.

Designing the 2D drawing involves a ton of brainstorming and chats with the clients to suss out their needs. Sometimes, there are pesky regulations to consider too. It’s time-consuming, but I genuinely enjoy it.

Bottom line: Always better to start with a 2D drawing before diving into the 3D stuff.

The Sketch: Unveiling the Room Blueprint

Room Specifications and Layout

Here’s the sketch I got to play with.

It’s an 11′-0″x11′-6″ room with a single bed, cupboard, and an office table. Pretty straightforward. But when I saw this, a couple of tweaks immediately sprang to mind:

Creative Tweaks: Shifting Dynamics

  • I figured, when you walk in, the bed and the wall behind it should steal the show. So, I nudged the cupboards away and brought the bed snug against the wall. Plus, I had some wall ideas brewing.
  • I wanted to deck out that wall with pictures and racks near the table. Seemed more functional this way. And yeah, silly me πŸ˜‹, but with a computer or TV on the table, you could binge-watch from bed without budging.
  • Placing the cupboards and a big mirror on the top side wall.
  • As you enter through the door, on the right side, there’s a shoe rack for your kicks, cupboards for your threads, and a grand mirror to check yourself out. Freshen up or get some work done at the table. That was the plan. Also had a bunch of other ideas brewing, but those might just be overkill πŸ˜‚.

With all these thoughts buzzing in my head, πŸ€• it was time to make them real.

From Mind to Reality: Embracing the 3D Phase

Enter the 3D design phase.

Loads of ideas were swirling around during this phase. Tried a bunch, and let’s just say, some were a bit… meh πŸ˜‚.

Finally, here’s what I settled on.

Office-Bedroom Design
  • I envisioned white walls and a boxed, level ceiling with warm yellow lighting. Yellow just vibes better with white walls, you know?
  • A table lamp by the bed for those late-night reading sessions and to add that cozy feel.
  • For the background behind the bed, I opted for a cool grey look. It really pops and draws your attention to the wall.
  • Hung up some vibrant pictures to add a splash of color to your little world within that room.
  • And that white table? Look at it! Absolute elegance. These kinds of pieces elevate the room’s luxury factor.
  • Now, let’s talk flooring. Wooden materials bring out nature’s touch and a high-end look. Seriously, whether it’s tiles, real wood, vinyl, or titanium, go for that wooden texture. It’s stunning 😍 and adds a touch of luxury.
  • Speaking of nature, bring in some greenery. Don’t go overboard with huge plants. Opt for smaller ones you can easily maintain. But hey, if daily plant maintenance isn’t your thing, skip the plants, okay?

Now, onto the other side of the room.

  • There’s a cupboard with a large mirror, perfect for storing clothes and a slick shoe rack beside it. And that wall behind? Looks amazing, doesn’t it? Seriously, I’m thrilled with how it turned out 😍.

Concluding Thoughts

I’m not claiming to be an expert at this stuff. I’m learning every day until the end πŸ˜‚. I’ve described everything exactly how I see it. My client loved the design, so I reckon I did something right, huh?
